|About R & V Excavating & Contracting
Terry's love for digging started at an early age. His father, Bob Ringheim, had an excavating business. When Terry was 10 years old, Bob would let him ride in the backhoe and showed him how to move the machine and how it actually did the digging. He was so intrigued with all of this, that when Dad stopped for a coffee break, Terry would try his hand at digging - and so it all began!
After Terry graduated from high school, he eventually went into business with his father and they operated Bob and Terry's Backhoe Service out of Bowden, Alberta. After working with Dad for a few years, Terry realized there wasn't enough work to fulfill both their needs, so he decided to leave the business.
In 1996, Terry bought out R & V Excavating in Sundre Alberta, became a corporation, and worked in the Sundre and surrounding area for 20 years and just recently moved the operation to Sexsmith Alberta in the fall of 2016. He is, so to speak, a "one man band" and to date, this owner/operator works hard with his Kubota Excavator and Bobcat to 'git er dug' for all his customers. His wife, and business partner, Cindy, manages their books, obtains permits, orders materials, and in her words, "is Terry's "go-fer", allowing him to stay on the machines in order to get the digging/job done.
"Git 'er dug!", as you may have heard on their ads on radio stations, is Terry's motto.
After 2009, when all the rules changed with regards to septic systems, Terry decided to continue with all the education and training required to remain a Certified Septic System Installer. They made the decision that R & V Excavating was to focus on, and specialize in, septic systems, helping customers understand the importance of a proper system. In addition to trenching in septic systems, Terry also digs in the water, power, gas, and sewer lines, and has become a "one stop shop" for acreage and landowners.
Terry is a member of Alberta Onsite Wastewater Management Association, and WCB. He maintains his Safety Tickets which include:
- H2S Alive
- Standard First Aid & CPR
- Alberta Construction Safety Association
- Ground Disturbance Level II
- IRP 16
With over 30 years of excavating experience, Terry's business has grown by providing excellent customer service and by standing behind his work - and his word.
